Cinnamon Graphics website is ready!

I'll update the sites as often as possible. So, look at here every now and then. The sites will evolve along my company.

These sites are made as basic sites with xhtml-coding and I've done that myself. Today many websites are designed with dark colours, shadings, gradients and mirror effects, but my personality as a designer is quite lightful, so I chose bright colours and joyful design for myself.

It's good to get back to basics. The most important tools still are a pencil and a piece of paper. Especially sketching is essential, even if you are designing a website. In here I have used basic, simple design, but also played a bit with Photoshop, as in the big image above.

Cinnamon Graphics has been founded

A company of my own is a good thing. At least for me, who has 20 years of working experience from prepress and advertising agency. After a long era as an Art Director in a busy advertising agency, it was welcoming to take a breath for a while. I was a freelancer and also thought what I would like to do next.

Last spring in 2009, I saw an ad of an entrepreneur education. The degree was for creative trades, so I felt it was something for me. I got a big amount of information and skills how to start a business of my own there.

The most difficult task was perhaps to create a name for my business. My goal was a short, finnish name, but I ended up to a long and english name. :) Suitable finnish names were already taken, so when I played a bit with letters Cinnamon Graphics was finally the best. So... Minna Kom... Minna Com... Cinnamon! Cinnamon is a spice, but also as a name nicely round, soft and cosy. Even if cinnamon comes from far away, it still is a nice spice in a home baked bun. Business cards from London
Had to test this one too. You can order business cards in the net from London, UK. You can design cards as two-sided and even use variable images on the other side. Sounds nice and the price is cheap, 200 pieces two-sided printed business cards, only 58 euros (delivered to Finland). Also it's easy to design cards of your own with multiple operations.

Ordering was quick and simple and the cards arrived in a week. The delivery package was neat, the card were printed with a printing machine, not with a digital printer and the quality was all right. The delivery included also a handy box for the cards.

Bad thing was the size of the cards. 84x55 mm isn't a standard size in Finland, which is 90x50 mm. You can only choose from two kinds of paper recycled or basic. I chose the recycled and it's ok, although the tone is quite blue.

As a conclusion this is ok, if you want cheap full colour cards with variable backgrounds. I can recommend these especially for small business like arts and crafts, who want to present products. The price is quite tempting after all.
